I’m not asking you to pack a gym bag full of equipment for every single class you could possibly take. You can choose your own classes, and most provide participants with certain equipment on a regular basis. But there are a few things that many experts say that they won’t leave home without, at least not when they’re going to the gym.
1. TRX Suspension Trainer
This fits easily into a gym bag, and it can be hooked up to a chinup bar, squat rack, or even a door. Some also use valslides.
2. A Jump Rope
How much simpler can you really get? A jump rope is small, it can easily be rolled up, and it can help you to get a fantastic workout, jumping with cardio. A hypervest can make it more challenging. But you don’t necessarily need it.
3. Good Running Shoes
No matter what it is that you’re doing, you need a good set of running shoes. These will help you to get the most out of your workouts, and with the exception of yoga or pilates, you need it.
4. Electrolytes
After or during a tough workout, you can always use water that is fortified with more electrolytes. You can get sports drinks, certain types of water, etc. But it helps to refresh you and keep you from having to go through some of the side effects of an intense workout.
5. An iPod
If you go running or do something else that is pretty monotonous, most people find that it’s a lot easier to have something that will distract you. It will make your workouts seem shorter and more bearable, and you will stop looking at the timer quite as much.
